palace tumbleweed
Here at the top of Crystal Palace today it’s a blustery day. Very windy indeed. On the way to the bakery I made my first sighting of the legendary palace tumbleweed. Someone’s wig had blown off and was making it’s way down the road. I will keep my eye out during future wanderings to see if I can track it’s movements.

They want your pod
These are my favourite signs in CP at the moment. Live in fear, they want your Pod. It sounds like such a futuristic crime. My friend K. mentioned that the guy getting mugged in one is now the mugger in the other, so it goes. I put it down to lazy design. Sadly someone I know had a phone knicked off her outside CP station. The signs may be true but I’m not sure they make much of a difference, they just make us more scared.

Flat beer and flowers

Well, I hope it’s flat beer anyway.

Urban Tracking

It is relatively easy to track the urban postman by the red elastic bands they leave behind on their morning journeys. This one was spotted near the Crystal Palace triangle but there was no trace of the postman, he had probably retreated to his lair at the local sorting office or a nearby cafe or pub.

Jelly fish

Saturday morning Sun reflections on some hordings in Church Road.
Strangely beautiful while everything was grey.

The most miserable building in the world

Not only does this building look like it’s been imported from the Wild West but it looks like it’s remaining standing purely out of habit. One momentary loss of concentration and boom, it will come tumbling down.
Yet another wonder of Crystal Palace.

oh, what a victory

One of the things I like about Victory Place in Crystal Palace is just how un-victorious it is. From it’s faded, dirty bunting around the rusty fence to the dead end car park behind it. If you look carefully through the railings you can see the rubbish piling up in the wheelie bins.
Any idea just what Victory it was the local council was celebrating when they named this. Answers on a postacard to your local authority.
